  • Under a warmer layer. Once linen is covered by wool or a wind-resistant shell, its conduction advantage stops drawing heat from bare skin and its moisture management protects the insulation above. In that position, linen is not competing with cotton on warmth at all; it is making the rest of the outfit work.

How to Wear Linen When the Temperature Drops

The net effect of good care on the warm-or-cold question is real but indirect. Linen that has been washed and dried gently stays soft, keeps its weave integrity and continues to move moisture efficiently.
